The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 1 Division Nigerian Army and Force Commander Operation WHIRL PUNCH, Major General BA Alabi on Tuesday 4 July 2023 graduated participants of Driving and Catering Basic Course 2/23 at the 71 Supply and Transport Brigade, Ribadu Cantonment Kaduna.
In his remarks, the GOC represented by Division Training Officer Brig Gen A Wende congratulated the graduands for the successful completion of 12 weeks intensive training. He noted that training in the Nigerian Army remain the only tools that enable personnel to be equipped in his field and roles, adding that it enhances professional proficiency in the discharge of statuary duties. He then urged the drivers to adhere to traffic rules and to the caterers to be conversant with the rising cost of commodities and the need to provide the best catering service to their unit, formations or wherever they are deployed, especially in operations area.
Speaking further, the representative of the GOC emphasized on the need for the participants to always remember that the skills they acquired at the school would be put to test when they return back to their respective units.
Earlier in his welcome address, the Commander 71 Supply and Transport Brigade, Colonel WA Bakare stated that the course was aimed at improving the students skills in driving and catering service. He added that the student were also subjected to classroom lectures and extensive practical to expose them to contemporary techniques in driving and catering. Col Bakare also used the opportunity to appreciated the GOC for his enormous support in ensuring that all training materials and requirements were adequately and timely provided.
