The Nigerian Army (NA) gave retired Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya a magnificent send-off as he officially ended his illustrious military career with a ceremonial Pulling Out procession. At the Army Headquarters Garrison Parade Ground, Mogadishu Military Cantonment, Abuja, the ceremony honored retiring senior commanders of the rank of General in accordance with long-standing custom.

The Pulling Out procession, distinguished by its colorful display, was a fitting tribute to the great service provided by Lt Gen Faruk Yahaya, according to Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu, Director of Army Public Relations. General Yahaya, the Special Guest of Honor and Reviewing Officer, gave a heartfelt thanks to God for guiding him through a successful career that culminated in his command of the Nigerian Army.

Lt Gen Yahaya reflected on his military career and described it as adventurous, full of difficult situations that formed him into the leader he became. He gave his family and coworkers his sincere thanks for their steadfast support and encouragement throughout his career, noting their substantial contributions to his achievement.

General Yahaya remembered and honored the dead soldiers who had given their lives in a number of theaters of operations across the nation during the ceremony. He acknowledged the enormous sacrifices made by the Nigerian Army to defend the country and maintain a stable peace.

General Yahaya declared that the enemies are in disarray on all fronts while highlighting the accomplishments of the Nigerian Army under his command. He singled out the South-South region’s heightened anti-illegal oil bunkering activities, which have produced fruitful results and helped to boost oil output. Nigeria is once again among the top oil-producing nations in Africa as a result. In order for the Nigerian Army to successfully carry out its constitutional duties, he emphasized the need for the personnel to continue their dedication to and support for the new Chief of Army Staff.

General Yahaya thanked his forebears for their commitment to the Nigerian Army and their service to the nation. He appreciated their efforts in resolving security issues throughout their separate terms, which provided a strong basis for succeeding presidents to build upon. Their actions prevented terrorists and insurgents from acting freely and helped affected communities regain their peace and confidence.

Rear Admiral Ikechukwu Ogalla, Chief of the Naval Staff, Major General Christopher Musa, Chief of the Army Staff, Major General Taoreed Lagbaja, and former Service Chiefs were among the distinguished visitors who attended the important occasion. The event was made even more significant by the presence of members of the National Assembly, important business leaders, and other dignitaries.

The Nigerian Army and upcoming generations of military leaders will be inspired by Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya’s outstanding services and legacy as he retires from active duty. As it works to safeguard the security and well-being of the country and its residents, the Nigerian Army is steadfast in its commitment to expanding upon the foundation set by General Yahaya.

The country wishes Lt. Gen. Faruk Yahaya a happy and productive post-military career and extends its deepest gratitude for his extraordinary service.
