A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) in order to provide improved services through mutual support and collaboration.

The DG National Emergency Management Agency, Mustapha Habib Ahmed, expressed satisfaction at this new development and described the event as another step in the right direction towards better provision of safety, security, and dignity of Nigerians before, during, and after sudden onset of disasters and emergencies, according to DCC Olusola Odumosu, the Director of Public Relations NSCDC at the National Headquarters in Abuja.

The Corps is a crucial partner and stakeholder in the field of disaster prevention and management, according to the DG NEMA, so it is essential to open up new doors for cooperation and commercial growth.

He cited the NSCDC’s signing of a Memorandum of Understanding as another accomplishment on the road to a more effective and well-coordinated relationship between the two parties.

Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, mni, OFR, Commandant General of NSCDC, responded and characterized the action taken by NEMA as appropriate and fundamental to the connection that already exists and the accomplishment of the Corps’ mission.

Since one of NSCDC’s primary responsibilities is the management and prevention of disasters, the CG reaffirmed that NSCDC and NEMA are strategic life partners.

Indicating that the Corps is always open to possibilities to offer the public helpful humanitarian services, he reaffirmed to the DG that the Corps’ doors are always open to provide regimental and capacity-building trainings.

By signing the MoU, NEMA is guaranteed to benefit from the presence of NSCDC officers in all 774 LGAs for assistance and collaboration in disaster management across the country.
