Lagos, Nigeria – Lieutenant Colonel Yusuf Ngulde, the Acting Deputy Commandant of the Nigerian Army School of Public Relations and Information (NASPRI), inaugurated the Third Quarter Courses for 2023 at the school auditorium in Bonny Cantonment, Victoria Island, Lagos, on July 14, 2023.

In his address, the Acting Deputy Commandant emphasized the need to harness the power of social media in promoting a positive narrative of Nigerian Army operations. Lieutenant Colonel Ngulde highlighted that Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) enable simultaneous communication with instant feedback, and as students of information management, it is crucial to appreciate and effectively utilize social media platforms.

He also commended members of the public, as well as sections of the media, including bloggers and online publishers, for their patriotic efforts in disseminating the successes achieved by the military across various theaters of operations.

Before proceeding, Lieutenant Colonel AY Ngulde requested the staff and students to observe a minute of silence in honor of the recently departed Commandant of the school, Brigadier General Omale Ochaguba. He expressed gratitude for the late senior officer’s commitment to raising the standard of training in the school.

Addressing the new students, Lieutenant Colonel Ngulde encouraged them to take their lectures, syndicate discussions, and academic discourse seriously. He emphasized that the rich curriculum of the courses is designed to equip them with the necessary knowledge to assist their officers in addressing public relations challenges encountered in the field.

The Acting Deputy Commandant expressed gratitude to the Chief of Army Staff, Major General TA Lagbaja, for his intervention in the development of well-suited structures at the permanent site in Muhammadu Buhari Cantonment, Giri-Abuja. He also acknowledged the confidence placed in the school by the Chief of Naval Staff, Rear Admiral EI Ogalla, who consistently subscribes to courses for the benefit of officers and ratings of the Nigerian Navy as part of his capacity development efforts. Additionally, he thanked the Commander Training and Doctrine Command and the Chief of Training (Army) for their unwavering support.

The Third Quarter Courses that were inaugurated include X3 News Reporting and A3 Video Operations, which will equip the students with essential skills and knowledge in these specialized fields.

With the inauguration of these courses, NASPRI continues its mission of providing quality training in public relations and information management to enhance the Nigerian Army’s communication efforts, ensuring accurate and timely dissemination of information to the public.
