The President Nigerian Army Officer Wives Association (NAOWA) Mrs Salamatu F Yahaya receives the Quintessential Award of Excellence from the Joint Committee of the Senate and House of Representatives on Drug and Narcotics in collaboration with the National Association of Nigerian Drug Monitoring (NANDRUM).

The award was presented to NAOWA President on December 14, 2022, at the National Assembly Complex in Abuja during the 3rd Annual Lecture and Quintessential Awards/Endorsement. In her message of good will, Mrs. Salamatu F. Yahaya praised the Federal Government of Nigeria for choosing Brig. Gen. Buba Marwa (rtd) as the current Chairman/Chief Executive of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), who has made great strides in the fight against the production, distribution, and consumption of illicit drugs and narcotics.

In his opening remarks, Senate President Senator Ahmed Lawan, who was expertly represented by Senator Boroffice Ajayi, commended the NAOWA and stressed the joint committee’s commitment to saving Nigerian society from the threat of drug usage and other illegal substance addiction. Additionally, he made a plea for other groups to join the effort to get rid of the repulsive threat.

He also applauded the Joint Committee for bestowing the Quintessential Award of Excellence and the Ambassadorial Endorsement on the deserving awardees who had made positive contributions to the struggle against drug trafficking, distribution, and drug use.

In her welcome speech at the occasion earlier, Dr. Christabel Regan Okoye, the Executive Secretary of NANDRUM and the Ambassador Joint Committee on Drugs and Narcotics of the National Assembly, expressed her gratitude for all of the invited guests’ attendance. She also expressed her gratitude to the heads of the Senate and House committees on drugs and narcotics, the chairman and executive officers of the National Drug Law Enforcement Association, and all of the award winners for their outstanding efforts in the war against drugs and narcotics.

Others who got the honor include Her Excellency the First Lady of Enugu State, Mrs. Monica Ugwuanyi, Chief Nelson Madubuchi FCIMA, the Commander of Narcotics (NDLEA), Usman Ali Wandar, and the State Commander (NDLEA), Delta State, John Tunde Esq.

Keynote speeches, inspirational messages, cultural dancing, prize presentations, and group photos are among the highlights of the event.
