In her efforts to execute one of the cardinals of the Association which is bringing succor to widows and the less privileged, the President of Nigerian Army Officers’ Wives Association Mrs Salamatu F Yahaya, (NAOWA) has donated relief materials to widows of falling heroes at Gibson Jalo Cantonment Yola on 26 May 2023.
ln her remarks, the President NAOWA, stated that the challenges of widows are to provide for their families, raise children, and make significant decisions, which is a herculean task. “That is why NAOWA at all levels has made it a point to always support the plight of widows through the provision of relief materials and skill acquisition programs to encourage and strengthen them in their daily endeavours,” Mrs Salamatu said.
She further appreciated the Zonal Coordinator NAOWA 23 Brigade Hajiya Adama Abdullahi Gambo for impacting in the lives of women and families in the barracks through the NAOWA Entrepreneurship and Skill Acquisition Programmes. Mrs Faruk Yahaya further appreciated Commander 23 Brigade Brigadier General MJ Gambo for supporting NAOWA Activities in the Brigade at all times.
Earlier in her remarks, the Zonal Coordinator Hajiya Adama Abdullahi Gambo stated that the NAOWA Entrepreneurship Skill Acquisition Centre was established to improve the accessibility of personnel, their families and host communities to a variety of vocational skills which include the Production of bread, handmade bags, hairdressing and barbing. Others are Information and Communication Technology, Production of beverages and sachet water.
The Zonal Coordinator also appreciated the NAOWA President for her visionary leadership and the donation of relief materials to the widows. Highlights of the event were a guided tour of the Entrepreneurship Skill Acquisition Centre, a cultural display, a donation of relief materials, and group photographs.
NAOWA’s outreach efforts, exemplified by the donation of relief materials, play a crucial role in fostering social cohesion, uplifting marginalized communities, and creating a more inclusive society where no one is left behind.
